Drifter Clay Hewitt wanders into a small Kansas town and quickly becomes popular. Soon after arriving, he punches out the local town drunk, falls in love with local beauty, Kitty, and is hired on the local feed ranch, owned by the alcoholic widow Delilah. Notorious for her admiration of younger men, she allows Clay to stay in the carriage house on her estate. With the help of Kitty, Clay slowly breaks Delilah’s disturbed and withdrawn son, Flyboy, out of his shell. He soon discovers that Flyboy and Delilah’s problems run deeper than they ever expected.
