A sketch artist for the police helps a witness recall who she saw leaving the scene of a murder. He makes the troubling discovery that the suspect is his wife. Instead of revealing this information to the police, he hides the sketch and conducts his own investigation. However, the police soon suspect that the artist himself might be involved in the murder.
