Directors

MPCA has discovered many up and coming directors, who have gone on to build incredible careers:

  • Peter and Bobby Farrelly (The Farrelly Brothers) have directed several smash hits grossing billions of dollars worldwide, including MPCA’s Dumb and Dumber and Kingpin as well as There’s Something about Mary and Dumb and Dumber To.
  • Jon Turteltaub directed MPCA’s Driving Me Crazy and Think Big before going on to direct the National Treasure series of films; his combined releases have grossed billions.
  • Ross Katz, the producer of such films as Lost in Translation and Marie Antoinette, got his first shot at directing with Taking Chance, for which he won DGA, Humanitas and WGA Awards.
  • Darren Aronofsky got his start directing MPCA’s Soldier Boyz video game and is an acclaimed director of the award-winning films Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler and Black Swan. His combined box office on his artistic endeavors are in the hundreds of million dollars.
  • Rob Marshall was given his first directing opportunity on MPCA’s made-for-TV film Annie, for which he won an Emmy, and has since gone on to direct Chicago, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and Into The Woods. His short list of films have earned billions of dollars worldwide.
  • Dennis Dugan directed MPCA’s Beverly Hills Ninja and is Adam Sandler’s go-to director on such films as Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy and Grown Ups 1 & 2, all totaling billions of dollars at the box office.
  • Andrew Fleming was the director of Threesome and Every Breath for MPCA. He is known for directing Dick and Nancy Drew as well as many TV episodes from shows including Arrested Development, New Girl, and The Michael J. Fox Show.
  • Mariah Carey, the actress and singer-songwriter superstar, made her directorial debut for MPCA’s A Christmas Melody.
  • Courteney Cox, the actress of Friends and Scream fame, made her inaugural directorial work on the made-for-TV movie TalhotBlond for Lifetime, produced by MPCA.
  • Emilio Estevez also became a performer turned MPCA-filmmaker with The War at Home.

DPs (Cinematographers)

MPCA has also worked with many acclaimed Directors of Photography:

  • Mauro Fiore began his career on MPCA’s action film Soldier Boyz and has since won an Academy Award for Cinematography for Avatar. His other films include Training Day and The Magnificent Seven.
  • Wally Pfister shot for MPCA on TV Movies Sketch Artist and Breakfast with Einstein. He has since worked on all of Christopher Nolan’s films, including the Dark Knight trilogy, and won an Academy Award for Inception. He also directed Transcendence.
  • Phedon Papamichael worked on MPCA’s The Locusts, Bio-Dome & Driving Me Crazy before he went on to shoot such films as The Pursuit of Happyness, Walk the Line, 310 to Yuma, The Descendants, Nebraska, and The Huntsman.
  • Janusz Kamiński, the Academy Award winning cinematographer for Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan, shot second unit of MPCA’s Love, Cheat & Steal early on in his career.
  • Robert D. Yeoman, DP on MPCA’s Coldblooded went on to shoot Moonrise Kingdom and was nominated for an Academy Award for The Grand Budapest Hotel. He’s also shot comedies Bridesmaids and the new female Ghostbusters.
  • Matthew Libatique, who captured the Soldier Boyz video game, became the cinematographer of Straight Outta Compton, Iron Man 1 & 2 and was nominated for an Academy Award for Black Swan.
